The Mongolian Death Worm....awfully familiar...

Dig this thing! It's probably mythical, but there are a lot of odd similarities between it and Shai-Hulud....weird. I wonder of FH had ever heard of these during the famous five-year period where he was mapping out the Duniverse...

A local band called Chakobsa actually used that painting as their album cover. Funny, I always thought it was Dune related art!

Given their name I'd guess they did too.

Cryptozoology has always been a passing interest of mine, but I have admit that I'd confuse that art as well.

Our ancestors seem to have been worms:

So are we perhaps cousins to the Mongolian Death Worm?

I watched recently the episode of Monster Hunter, hosted by a grandson of Charles Fort, on this critter, he went looking to it to Mongolia, it looks like it is a case of misidentification of a local desert serpent.
Only the books written by Frank Herbert are canon.
